1. on some new shit.

Ah it IS that time of year again!

Yes we all want to exercise more and save money and get an A+ at life, but what are your REAL aspirations? Like how can I get 6 eyeballs to be able to read more books???

My failure at life is that everyday is like New Years for me…I literally want to do TOO much. Is it weird that my resolution is to have less resolutions?

Anyhow tonight I’m having a glass of prosecco and taking my resolutions to the table. How can I break them into attainable goals instead of one giant, scary, vague idea like “Be Creative.”

So the idea is to take the one idea and give myself tasks every week to work on my goals.

And as part of resolution #11 (Read More Books), I’ll be choosing my January reading picks this evening which begins with Happier at Home, a suitable pick considering my current resolution hype. It’s the sequel to The Happiness Project, which was incredibly inspirational to me and fun to read! My next pick, a narrative is the classic The Sun Also Risesfollowed by The Tipping Point.

It’s been a rough day I’ll admit but man did I try, and that’s all I can really ask of myself for this year and the rest to come.

    I’ll drink to that.

  2. Spicing up my Spanish schoolwork by reading the first book in the Series of Unfortunate Events in espanol.

    Here’s how I win threefold:

    1. I’ve always wanted to read this series, SO, I get to cross a book off my list…

    2. I get to practice a new language, thereby am now closer to my goal of learning ALL 5 romance languages…

    3. Technically, technically I’m studying…

  3. Moveable Type: Letterpress truck from Portland, OR

A couple of weeks ago some friends and I went to check out a mobile letterpress truck called Moveable Type (http://type-truck.com) run by Kyle Durrie who funded this new project via Kickstarter:(http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/powerandlightpress/moveable-type-cross-country-adventures-in-printing).

She received funding to go cross-country and demonstrate letterpress printing techniques for free in her mobile truck, where she also sells various printed products from her print shop back in Portland, Power and Light Press(http://www.etsy.com/shop/powerandlight)

I took a few photos of my intro to letterpress experience, but had only my cell phone on me at the time, so the photos are less than great. Either way I was so glad I had a chance to partake, especially when Kyle was nice enough to give me her last Miami, FL print (shown at the end). Check the site in case she’s headed for a town near you!

    woops!

  4. Blegh, I am yet again delayed in everything awesome in my life because of schoolwork!

Perhaps sometime in this century I will stop studying and get to posting up the pics from my NY TRIP!

    ::Shakes fist at no-one::

    Happy Monday all.

  5. The Joy of Books

A fantastic stop-motion short set in the Toronto bookstore Type.

    Quite Toy Storyesque.

    Do Enjoy!

  6. I say that between my teeth…Miami is lovely for about a day, but is definitely one of the most awful places to live.

So in order to keep my sanity, on those days I feel like traveling, I concoct a day trip. It usually includes my boyfriend plus one or two other close friends who feel like hanging.

We’ll drive to any one of the urban areas of Miami like Wynwood, Miami Beach, Coconut Grove, South Miami, or Brickell and experience it like a tourist.

I usually like to do something like this once a week, so I always feel like I’m traveling. I’ll eat somewhere I’ve never been, visit a few shops, take lots of photos, check out a new museum exhibit, whatever the area dictates really.

All I know is that without these dreamy days, I would have probably hung myself from a palm tree long ago.

  9. Today I learned how to use Photoshop. What better way to celebrate, than a WISHLIST!

Christmas is this weekend so perhaps I’m a bit late, but better late than never
